Sneaker Insoles: What to Check Before Replacing Them

Replacing an insole changes the space inside a sneaker. Before ordering a replacement for a pair bought online, establish whether the original is meant to come out and record its shape. A matching EU size on a packet is only a starting point for comparison.

Check removability without pulling hard

Loosen the laces, lift the tongue and look inside in good light. If the edge of the insole lifts freely with your fingers, inspect it gently. Stop if it resists, pulls the lining or appears glued down. Do not cut, heat or use solvent to detach it. Ask the seller whether the insole is removable for your exact model and size. A visible edge in a photograph is not proof that removal is intended.

Record the outline of a removable insole

If it comes out easily, place the original flat on paper and trace the outline without stretching it. Measure the longest point and the widest part of the forefoot in millimetres. Note any heel cup, raised edges and obvious differences in thickness between the heel and front. Keep the original pair together. These measurements describe the removed insole rather than your foot size or a universal sizing standard.

Compare thickness as well as length

A replacement with the same outline can take up more room if it is thicker. Compare the heel shape and the space above your toes as well as the printed size. Follow the replacement maker’s instructions about trimming or fitting. Do not trim the original as a template, and do not assume that adding another layer on top is suitable. If the original is fixed in place, ask about compatibility before buying.

Test the fit indoors before regular wear

If the shoe and replacement instructions permit the change, fit the replacement flat with no folds and check that it does not slide. Wear your usual socks and adjust the laces. Walk briefly indoors and check for squeezed toes, heel slipping or pressure from raised edges. Keep the originals. Stop using a replacement that makes the fit uncomfortable, and check the applicable return terms before altering or wearing a new item.

Use the actual listing for your questions

The LV Trainer Pattern Sneakers listing linked below is one example currently on 06shop. The listing name and gallery alone do not establish whether its insole is removable. Send the exact product link and size when asking. 06shop sells replica footwear, not authentic products from the original brands, and is not endorsed by those brands.
